Silver Nanoparticles Adsorbent For Separation And Pre-Concentration Of Iron From Water Samples

In this work, an simple and fast method based solid phase extraction for preconcentration and separation of trace amount of Fe(III) ions from water samples prior to its determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) was developed. The silver nanoparticles coated silica gel was modified by morin and then it was used as a adsorbent. The silver nanoparticle coated silica gel was prepared by mixing slurried silica gel with silver nitrate and sodium citrate. The effects of experimental conditions such as pH, sample and eluent flow rates, type and least amount of the eluent for elution of the iron from adsorbent were also studied and optimized. Under the optimum conditions, the limit of detection of the procedure for Fe (III) was 67 ngL. The relative standard deviation (RSD%) was found to be 2.5% (n = 10, C = 0.5 mg L).
